The Swedish company Footprint Level® has one main mission: to drive behavioral change on a large scale towards a more sustainable future. In order to achieve this, they develop services for companies that help to track their climate work in relation to the 1,5°C target in the Paris Agreement.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your company Footprint Level!
My name is Mats Huss, co-founder, and CEO of Footprint Level AB. I have over 20 years of experience within Project Management and Business Development in Product Development and Design, and I've had the privilege to work with projects in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Back in 2017, I realized that it was necessary to redesign climate communication in order to reach out to people who were not experts in the field. I created the concept Global Footprint Level® to visualize the CO2 footprint in a simple way. The idea was to come up with a user-friendly design and communication as appealing as Mac opposed to PC.
Andrea Hägg, Karl-Fredrik Johnfors, and I co-founded and established the company in September 2020. One year in, we won the competition Creative Business Cup Sweden 2021 and got into the global finales in Copenhagen. This gave us a great spark, credibility, and good PR.
In parallel to nurturing Footprint Level®, I've recently been through chemotherapy treatment. What’s interesting about it, is that cancer has given me unexpected power in running the business and I now know better what to prioritize and what not to!
You recently selected a new equal board of directors, tell us more about it.
Yes, that’s true! Ever since I started working, I've been fond of extending my network in different directions. Having reached the age of 50, I know people across fields such as shipping, design, arts, fashion, and finance, among others. I want to create a team of people with skills beyond my own and we have already set up an Advisory Board with experts in different fields and renewed the Board of Directors with Anna Branten, Daiva S. Naldal, and Yaroslava Kudrina. With this strong team, we are now eleven ambassadors for the Footprint Level® concept.
