Strengthened support for Scanian foodtech startups in Malmö

Malmö City, Minc (Malmö’s startup house), and Krinova Incubator & Science Park have signed a cooperation agreement that will contribute to developing the food sector in Malmö and Skåne. The collaboration is part of the ongoing strategic work to strengthen innovation support in Malmö with food expertise, so that young innovative companies within the ecosystem can develop their businesses under the best possible conditions.

Food is one of the growth areas identified in Skåne's innovation strategy. In Skåne, the entire ecosystem is represented, from production to processing and packaging to trade and consumer. Oatly is known to many, while Lupinta, Sproud, Angry Camel, and Rscued are some of the new companies that have successfully established themselves in the area in recent years.

Both Malmö and Kristianstad play important roles as innovation hubs. Here innovative companies within the ecosystem have chosen to develop their companies. Food is also an area undergoing strong development, linked to changing consumption patterns within, for example, ethical and sustainable food, health-promoting food and drink, new forms of distribution, and experiences.

Skåne and Malmö are well placed to take advantage of innovation opportunities that answer the needs of this transformation.

“The cooperation agreement with Minc and Krinova has been created to increase competence in the region and to attract more food entrepreneurs to Skåne. It is also in line with the investments that the city of Malmö is making in the food sector,” says Ulrika Forsgren Högman, Head of Innovation and Development at Malmö City.

Kristianstad-based Krinova has a regional mission that includes the development of the entire food sector in Skåne. The food-oriented incubator program that Krinova offers is based on over ten years’ experience in innovation support and business development. Minc, Malmö's startup house, which brings together many of Malmö's startups in tech and sustainability, also has an increasing number of foodtech companies in its environment, and as part of the collaboration, Krinova will also have a physical presence at Minc.

“Our specialist areas complement each other. We have the same goal, to help new companies grow, and it is easier to get there if we pool our combined resources, such as our business developers, our specialist skills, and contacts,” says Daniel Persson, CEO of Minc.

Stärkt stöd till skånska foodtech startups i Malmö

Malmö Stad, Minc (Malmös Startuphus) och Krinova Incubator & Science Park har tecknat ett samarbetsavtal som ska bidra till att utveckla livsmedelsområdet i Malmö och Skåne. Samarbetet är en del i det pågående strategiska arbetet kring att stärka innovationsstödet i Malmö med livsmedelskompetens, så att unga kunskapsföretag inom hela livsmedelskedjan ska kunna utveckla sina företag under bästa möjliga förutsättningar.

Livsmedel är ett av de tillväxtområden som pekas ut i Skånes innovationsstrategi. I Skåne finns hela livsmedelskedjan representerad, från produktion via förädling och förpackning till handels- och konsumentled. Oatly känner de flesta till och Lupinta, Sproud, Angry Camel och Rscued är några av de nya företag som framgångsrikt etablerat sig i området de senaste åren.  

Både Malmö och Kristianstad har viktiga roller som innovationshubbar där innovativa företag inom hela livsmedelskedjan väljer att utveckla sina företag. Livsmedel är också ett område under stark utveckling, kopplat till förändrade konsumtionsmönster inom exempelvis etiska och hållbara livsmedel, hälsofrämjande mat och dryck, nya distributionsformer och upplevelser.

Skåne och Malmö har bra förutsättningar att tillvarata innovationsmöjligheter som svarar mot denna omvandling.

- Samarbetsavtalet med Minc och Krinova skapas för att öka kompetensen i regionen och för att locka fler entreprenörer inom livsmedel till Skåne. Det ligger även i linje med de satsningar som Malmö stad gör på livsmedelsområdet, säger Ulrika Forsgren Högman, enhetschef på Innovation och utveckling på Malmö Stad.

Kristianstadsbaserade Krinova har ett regionalt uppdrag som omfattar utveckling av hela livsmedelsområdet i Skåne. Inkubatorprogrammet med livsmedelsinriktning som Krinova erbjuder bygger på mer än tio år av erfarenhet kring innovationsstöd och företagsutveckling. Minc, Malmös startuphus, som samlar många av Malmös startups inom tech och hållbarhet har i dag även ett ökande antal foodtech bolag i sin miljö och som en del i samarbetet kommer Krinova också att ha fysisk närvaro på Minc.
